How Much is too Much? (sharing)
Who doesn't like to share with their friends....about where we're going, what we're doing, what we're feeling, etc. Now that we're in the world of web2.0, there's even more and more ways to share with our friends, family, coworkers, bosses, elementary school classmates who we were never so close with but have found us and want to connect with us anyway, that weird guy from high school who has now become very interesting, you get the point.
But, how much is too much? Where should we draw the line between a witty and humorous or informative status post on our Facebook profile, and something that is really best to be left off the wall (the comment wall, that is)?
I found this amazing blog a few weeks ago, and am now a dedicated follower and occasional commenter. You can guess at what the acronym in the title means (STFUParents), it's all about people turning in their friends on Facebook for oversharing about their kids. I have not turned in any of my Facebook friends (yet), and I've definitely become more aware of the details I post on Facebook. Not to say I would ever make a status post about my younger daughter going poo in the tub anyway, but I'm more often now finding myself pausing for a bit longer before making a status post or comment.
Am I being too cautious? Is it ok to share whatever we want on the social web?
At our own risk I guess...
